From the times of the ancient Greeks and Romans, marble has been valued
for its classical beauty. Contemporary designers use it to convey a sense of
formal elegance and grace.
Marble is identifiable by its striking and dramatic combinations of browns,
blacks, grays, and whites. It is a metamorphic stone, composed almost
entirely of calcite. The presence of iron and clay minerals add color either
to the base or in the veins.
Because it is much softer than granite, we would not be recommended it for
high-use areas. However, it is a lovely choice in bathrooms, entryways,
and formal living areas.
